Lipid lowering agent. (Primary hyper cholesterolaemia). Rosuvastatin is a cholesterol-lowering medication that blocks the production of cholesterol (a type of fat) in the body. It works by reducing levels of "bad” cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL) and triglycerides in the blood, while increasing levels of "good” cholesterol.
Rosuvastatin is a member of the statin class; the drugs of first choice for the treatment of dyslipidaemia. Multiple clinical studies have confirmed the effectiveness of Rosuvastatin in reducing LDL-C (‘bad’ cholesterol) and raising HDL-C (‘good’ cholesterol).
